Should you get a unitkitout? A broke Malaysian student point of view

Just my opinion. I did not order from UniKitOut. I merely got some stuff free from The Loom because I used some early bird voucher. But I highly suspect that the stuffs are also from UniKitOut because my housemate who ordered UniKitOut got the exact same stuff as me but more in quantity.

So they gave me free bedding and kitchen stuff. I am not complaining here, but just wanted to help some students who are deciding on whether to get the UniKitout or not.

Unfortunately, I don't have a picture but check out my YouTube video review of the room. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TufeCxAlsF8

WOULD I BUY THE UNIKITOUT ?

My answer is NO. Because you can get everything in DEALZ, Lidl, and Dunnes for a fraction of the price and better quality. Only downside is you have to shop for it yourself. But if you have difficulty travelling and going out to buy stuff, then get it.

At most, I will just get the bedding stuff. I understand it is hard to buy pillows and duvet from the city and then walk or take the bus back with those bulky stuff.

The duvet I got was quite comfortable and thick.
Pillows are rather flat. I would get a new one but I want to save money so I will not.
The bedsheet is okay and just plain white.
So, while I went window shopping at Primark, Dunnes and Dealz and I found that they have beautiful and higher thread count bedsheets sets at a very affordable price.

Kitchen things that I got for Free (and they look exactly the same on the UniKitOut website)

1 x 18cm Non-stick saucepan with glass lids
1 x 20cm Non-stick saucepan with glass lids
1 x 24cm Non-stick frying pan
1 x Chopping board white
1 x Kitchen knife
1 x Utility knife
1 x Corkscrew
1 x Slotted serving spoon
1 x Slotted Turner
1 x Tin opener
1 x Vegetable peeler
1 x Wooden spoon
1 x Kitchen scissors

1 Butter Knife
1 set of fork and spoon
1 Dessert spoon
1 Teaspoons
1 Dinner plates
1 Side plates
1 Cereal bowls
1 Mugs
1 Glass tumblers

The kitchen stuff is just below average quality.

Blunt after using it for less than 2 weeks. FYI I did not chop bones or hard vegetables. And I always use a chopping board. I cook a lot at home so I know how to care for a knife.

A normal chopping board.

This is the side plate.
Honestly, these are so dull. You can get fancier and cheaper sones at Dealz for 1- 2 euros.

Just a regular glass. The diameter is quite small honestly. I don't even bother using it. I keep cutleries in it.

My sauce pot. It scratches way too easily. I have only used it to bowl milk and chinese tea.

This is my free frying pan. I only used it three times and look at what happened. FYI I only fried egg, burger patties and sausages in it. And I wash only with the sponge side. It really upset me when this happened.

My NEW FRYING 28 cm pan from Lidl. It was 17 euros. It is so sturdy and of wonderful quality.

Again a very dull-looking mug in the kit. The quality is not bad. It is just a regular mug. You can get way prettier cups from Dunnes for 1 euro.

All the cups here in the St Stephen Mall's Dunnes was 1 euro.

I hope the above helps.

Please, I beg of you, do always check out DEALZ stores first. They are the cheapest in Dublin. Many branches around the city centre. Almost everything is 1.50 euros. Bigger items cost 5 euros more or less.
